Review
"America: We Have the Country We Want" by Mark Mullen is a fantastic book offering a fresh perspective on key social issues in America with the goals of entertaining and enlightening readers.

The opinions and arguments set forth by Mullen support the conclusion that "we have the country we want," and that we are comfortable with the status quo, no matter if certain familiarities are harmful and warrant changes.

Mullen exposes the social issues affecting American businesses, schools, communities, churches, law enforcement, and the media. For example, the author discusses such topics as changes to employee-employer relations, healthcare, pension plans, and age of retirement, as well as the players, successes, and failures of corporate America. Mullen also evaluates some myths of education, and the roles of traditional and social media in our lives.

These are just some of the many topics the author covers with reasoned and impressive arguments and case studies. Mullen writes extremely well, informs readers with the most pertinent examples, and is refreshingly candid in his thoughtful analyses.

"America: We Have the Country We Want" is the perfect book for readers interested in hearing a new take on the social issues affecting Americans.

Dark of Night by Marios Savva

Review
Marios Savva's "Dark of Night" is a suspense-thriller novel that'll have you eager to know what happens next. The novel, the first book in The Man From the Yard series, introduces you to the characters, including a demonic entity...

Told from the perspective of a young woman named Jane and a talented officer named Jake, the reader is quickly pulled into the story. Jane is desperately trying to escape an evil entity that her and her friends called into existence during a fateful night with a Ouija board.

After years, of running from the entity, she comes back to her hometown, only to be attacked once more. The entity will stop at nothing to kill Jane, and wreaks havoc on the town as he searches for her. Jake is left to deal with the onslaught of massacred town inhabitants.

The characters are interesting and easy to connect with, the story is engaging, and the demonic being is a vision from one’s nightmares.

My mind was scrambling, trying to guess just how the two characters could handle facing such a beast. Romance evolves, loved ones die, and the battle against evil seems never-ending. The story took quite a few twists and turns, and kept me in a constant state of surprise. This is a must-read if you like suspense/thriller novels.

The author, Elvis Newman, writes of several lessons of inspiration gained from observing Mother Nature, specifically from the behavior of many different types of animals, from mayflies to mice to beavers and elephants. Trust Me, I'm A Liar by Detective Will

Detective Will
Review
Detective Will’s “Trust Me, I’m A Liar” is a must-read for anyone who wants to get the truth out of someone e.g. in the case of catching a cheater.

The author, a decorated retired detective, brings his years of interrogating experience to the table, relaying the tips and secrets of finding the truth in an easy-to-understand manner.

One of the things I love about the book is that it starts with the basics, teaching the reader, for instance, why good people are good at lying. I also like that the book breaks truth-telling into six easy steps.

The book really covers the gambit, from learning how to prepare a counter argument to learning the different kinds of liars to reading body language. If you read this book carefully and learn the info, you’ll get the truth you’re seeking, no matter the circumstances.

Dragon Bone Hill (book 2) by David S. Wellhauser

Review
David S. Wellhauser's "Dragon Bone Hill" is the captivating second book of the Sci-fi Trilogy about the challenges of protagonist, Titus Pym, the ill, injured, and ousted leader of the Beluga Fay.

Being pursued by many wishing to kill him, Titus Pym decides to enter a diseased, starved, and violence-ridden city for protection. However, soon after, Titus himself catches the Sweating Sickness and is near death. But thankfully, Dian and Putri Gomez, a daughter and mother living amongst the Remedios, save his life. This puts Titus and the women on equal terms as Titus previously saved them by donating the food storage room. After becoming well again, Titus becomes the leader of the Remedios, defends them from attacks, and must make tough decisions in order to survive in a very unsafe world.

The book is very strong in terms of its fast-moving, action-oriented plot, as well as its character development that leads well into the finale of the series. In addition, Titus Pym is a likable and charismatic leader who understands the complexities of decision-making.

This book is a must-read for anyone who loves the apocalyptic genre!

An Uncollected Death: A Charlotte Anthony Mystery by Meg Wolfe

Review
This novel is about a female protagonist who endeavors to solve the murder of author, hoarder and almost-employer, Olivia Bernadin, while simultaneously managing her own personal challenges and relationships.

In "An Uncollected Death," Charlotte Anthony struggles at the outset with the need to downsize every aspect of her life and with empty-nest syndrome, but these are only the beginnings of her worries because it takes almost no time for Charlotte to encounter trouble in her new transcribing and editing project for Olivia: Charlotte first discovers Olivia fatally beaten in her home.

Charlotte interacts with the people in Olivia's life to unearth the facts to find Olivia's hidden notebooks that detail over 4 decades of her life before her son, Donovan, puts Olivia's home and possessions up for auction.  The pressure is on for Charlotte, but day-by-day, she gains a better understanding of Olivia and unlocks a treasure trove of history in her diaries.

Some of the highlights of the novel are Wolfe's scene descriptions of the quaint Midwest, diary format, plot, and character development. These elements come together effortlessly to show the growth of Charlotte Anthony in her unique environment that is riddled with stress and challenges.

"An Uncollected Death" is an engaging debut mystery novel that is perfect for reading in the armchair by the fire. Recommended!

Masters Mashups:: From Shakespeare to Stephen King (Masters Mashups Series) by Melissa G. Wilson

masters mash ups, from shakespeare to stephen king, mash up, stephen king, melissa g wilson
Review
"Masters Mashups: From Shakespeare to Stephen King (Masters Mashups Series)" by Melissa G. Wilson is an interesting and succinct mashup about the similarities between two revolutionary authors!

The author provides countless examples of how the two authors and their works are more alike than we might originally think. She outlines these commonalities by comparing the authors' themes, works, early influences, inspiration, turning points, controversies, successes, and life events. Coincidentally, both grew up in towns called Stratford, and that's only the beginning of the details addressed.

I love how Wilson highlights how Shakespeare and King had a penchant for storytelling and for crafting relatable characters who make decisions and mistakes.

"Frome Shakespeare to Stephen King" is very strong with respect to comparing the authors across multiple domains and in bringing out the common themes across six comparable works, such as good versus evil, revenge, familial elements, and humanitarian views.

In this way, the author makes a strong case for the relevancy of Shakespeare and King today by showing the comparability of the authors' works.

"From Shakespeare to Stephen King" is a must-read for any mashup fan!
